Description

Time: -

Place/Location: near Družby Narodaŭ Park; Akhrestina detention centre

Identity of the victim(s): Stanislav Dzidow

Identity of the perpetrator(s): Special Purpose Police Unit OMON; staff of detention centre Akhrestino; other unidentified internal troops.

Stanislav's testimony about his detention on 11 August 2020.

He was with his girlfriend in the Friendship of Peoples Park when he was stopped by representatives of enforcement agencies. They asked the victim to unlock his phone, to which he complied to avoid potential confrontation. They noticed a white band on his wrist and started asking questions, then beat the victim up. They forced the victim and his girlfriend in a van where they kept blowing him with truncheons but avoided causing any harm to the girl. They tightened his wrists. Noticing the white and red belt, an officer cut it. The victim was kept on the floor.

Whenever the officers went to the opposite side of the car, they would step on the victim. Near the supermarket "Riga", the victim was transferred to a bus with the riot police, who continued the bullying: they poured some white paint on his head, but the victim was on the floor near the threshold and several more people were on him. They beat him up again. When transferring to the next transportation vehicle, the officers forced him to crawl on his knees, then beat him with a truncheon and hit his head.

Upon arrival at Akrestsino detention centre, Stanislav and other detainees on the way to the building were repeatedly beaten with truncheons. Beating and humiliation continued in Akrestsino. Later, the victim was locked in a cell with other detainees.
