Time: 09-14 August, 2020

Place/Location: initially detained near Kuz'mi Chernogo str., Pervomaijskij district. Consequently, events took place in Pervomaijskij ROVD

Identity of the victim(s): Testimony #21

Identity of the perpetrator(s): Servicemen at Pervomajskij ROVD, Okhrestino and Zhodino detention centers, judges

The police detained the victim for spreading leaflets on August 2, 2020. He was released several hours later and given a release document. In the interest of providing additional information, the victim was invited to the ROVD, where the police brought fabricated allegations of assault against him and he was subsequently detained.

He was placed in a cell with another detainee who had been unlawfully arrested for their political views and was prevented from voting. The victim's due process rights were violated at the court hearing as well. He was deprived of liberty for 15 days and was detained in an overcrowded cell in Okhrestino and later transferred to the detention center in Žodzina / Zhodino. In Okhrestino, the victim and his fellow detainees were tortured with chlorine.

The victim was transported to Žodzina / Zhodino in inhumane conditions. Following the events in August, the cell became overcrowded. The victim and other detainees were refused adequate food and water, medical and legal aid, sanitation, and were forced to sleep on cement.
