Description

Time: After 5 p.m.

Place/Location: RUUS of Savyetsky District of Minsk

Identity of the victim(s): Yury; other unknown detainees

Identity of the perpetrator(s): undefined servicemen, including servicemen in olive uniform

The interviewee was detained and taken to RUUS of Savyetsky District of Minsk and then to the detention facility in Zhodino, though he did not take part in protests. He was beaten already at the detention, near a yellow bus. A woman was also beaten on her head senseless there. There were around 80 detainees in the RUUS. They were to spent about 24 hours near the fence in an unnatural position. They were allowed to seat for a short time (15 min) only at night. They were repeatedly beaten (which is evidenced by large bruises on the victim's buttocks) so much that younger men wailed and some fainted away. A man with a broken arm was near the victim without any medical assistance.

The detainees were also abused verbally. Major threatened detainees with death, telling them that he has a direct order for that and beat the detainees with a truncheon. Beating and torture were even worse on the next day when the detainees were transported to Zhodina. They were put to the floor of a prison van with their arms twisted behind their backs and severely tightened with flex-cuff.

A man declared that he is a journalist of STV and asked to call his chiefs, but no one reacted. After waiting 2,5 hours there, they were met by servicemen in olive uniform who formed a corridor and beat the detainees again. In the detention centre, the victim was examined by a doctor and taken to the hospital.
